DANVERS — Four members of the Lynnfield-Danvers high co-op gymnastics team were named to the CAL-NEC All-Star team that was selected by the league coaches.
Leading the way is Kaylee Wescott who was named the league’s MVP. The sophomore came in second in the all-around in the state final on March 1 with a 38.4.
“She had an incredible season,” said Falcons head coach Jen Habeeb, about the sophomore. “She scored at least 38 points in every meet this year.”
This is her third time on the All-Star team. As an eight-grader, she made it on the floor exercise. She then made the team in the all-around last winter.
The Donovan sisters of Lynnfield, Camryn and Callie, also made the team.
Camryn, a senior co-captain, made it on the balance beam where she averaged over nine points this year.
“Besides Kaylee she is our best performer,” said Habbeb, as Donovan fished in fourth in the all-around at the state final. “She has had a very solid year.”
This is also her third year on the All-Star team as she joined the Falcons as a sophomore. That sophomore year, she made the All-Stars on the floor. She was an All-Star on the bars last season.
Callie Donovan, a sophomore, made the All-Stars for the second year in a row as she made it on the floor. Last year, she was an All-Star in the vault.
“She did the floor and beam this year,” pointed out Habeeb. “The floor is her strongest event but her beam routine is also great.”
The final Falcon All-Star is Lynnfield’s Sophia Catinazzo who made it on the vault. This is her first-ever All-Star appearance.
“She is incredible to watch,” said Habeeb, about the 10th-grader. “She gets great height and has been very impressive.”
This was another memorable year for the team as the Falcons went 6-1 overall. They came in second place in the CAL-NEC behind Masconomet, who ended up winning the state title.
Lynnfield-Danvers came in fourth place in the state finals behind Masco, Newton South and Mansfield.
