LYNNFIELD — Four members of the Lynnfield High boys’ tennis team were recently named to the Cape Ann League First-Team All-Stars voted on by the league coaches.

For the third consecutive year, first-singles player, Dan Levin, made the team. The junior went 17-2 overall and he was also named the CAL Player of the Year.
“He had a remarkable year,” said Pioneers head coach Joe Dunn. “He goes 100 percent and dominated the whole field.”
Levin was undefeated in CAL play with his only losses coming against St. John’s Prep and Weston.
Shea McCarthy made the team for the second year in a row as the sophomore went 19-2 at second singles.
“He has every shot needed to be successful,” said Dunn. “He also has a love for the game.”

The two other Pioneers to make the First-Team All-Stars are the first doubles team of Russell Kasdon and Rafik Khodr.

This is also their third-straight year making the team as they went 18-2 this spring.
“They play different styles but they know each other’s moves and have a great chemistry together,” said Dunn.
Kasdon is a junior while Khodr is a senior co-captain. They were teamed with each other two years ago and, last spring, made the All-Stars with different partners as Kasdon was with Jason Yang while Khodr was teamed up with Kasdon’s older brother, Dave.
It was another memorable year for the Pioneers as they lost to Weston, 5-0, in the MIAA Division 4 state title match on June 11 to end up at 19-2.
It was the second year in a row, the Pioneers lost to Weston in the Div. 4 state finals.
Lynnfield also won the Cape Ann League Kinney Division for the fifth-straight year going a perfect 11-0.
