NORTH READING — The NRHS girls’ basketball team completed the regular season with a 15-5 record and earned the 9 seed in the Division 3 state tournament rankings. The Hornets will host 24 seed Arlington Catholic Friday night at 6:30 p.m.

The winner of the North Reading/Arlington Catholic game will face the winner of 8 seed Medway and 25 seed Nipmuc Regional in the round of 16.

“Arlington Catholic plays in one of the strongest leagues in the state and has been battle tested all season long,” said North Reading head coach Bob Romeo. “We know they will be a challenge. We have been playing very well ourselves and I expect this to be a very competitive matchup.”

The Cape Ann League All Stars were recently selected by the league coaches and representing North Reading on the girls’ basketball First Team All Stars are seniors Faith Newton and Brianne Slattery.

“Both have had outstanding seasons and received recognition from the league’s coaches,” said Romeo.
