MELROSE—The Lady Raiders basketball team celebrated their outstanding 19-4 season and their Middlesex League Championship last week at their year-end banquet held at Montvale Plaza.
It was a great celebration of the girls’ season and a chance to reflect on their historic run, give out awards and honor their departing senior, Alexis Doherty (League MVP).
The following awards were handed out:
· 6th Player Award – Abby Cunningham
· Coaches Award – Samantha Smith
· Unsung Hero Peri MacDonald
· Defensive Player of the Year – Lily Cunningham
· Offensive Player of the Year – Sam Dewey
· MVP Alexis Doherty
Melrose named their 2019 captains: Peri MacDonald, Samantha Smith, Abby Cunningham and Lily Cunningham (returning captain). They will help lead a team expected to contend for a league title in 2019.
