LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield High girls’ soccer team recorded its second-consecutive 3-0 win on Sept. 11 as they beat visiting Georgetown.
With the victory, the Pioneers improved to 3-1 overall and in the Cape Ann League, winning their third straight game.
“This was one of our more complete games,” said Pioneers head coach Mark Vermont. “We moved the ball well and won most of the 50-50 balls.”
Senior co-captain, Giada Antidormi, scored the first tally in the 14th minute assisted by Ava Damiani and Hannah Doherty.
Five minutes later, junior Kaylee Barrett made it 2-0 with Hannah Ozanian assisting.
Two minutes into the second half, Ella Pascucci had the Pioneers’ final goal with Barrett assisting.
“We had 15 shots on net but their goalie stood on her head,” said Vermont, as his team had the territorial advantage.
Pioneer goalie, Victoria Minor, improved to 3-1 as she made four saves posting her second-straight shutout.
“She made a big save midway through the first half that would have made the score 2-1 at that point,” stated Vermont.
On Sept. 9, also at home, the Pioneers beat Essex Tech, 3-0. All three goals came in the second stanza.
“We started to serve balls into the box a little earlier than we did in the first half,” pointed out Vermont, about the halftime adjustment.
In the sixth minute of the second half, Damiani broke the ice with the assist going to Ozanian.
Just two minutes later, Barrett made it 2-0 with Antidormi assisting.
The final goal against the Hawks came in the 78th-minute as Antidormi scored assisted by Ozanian and Damiani.
“They had a very organized defense and their goalie played well with nine saves,” said Vermont of Essex Tech.
Minor had a relatively easy afternoon in net, making two stops.
On Thursday, Lynnfield will visit rival North Reading at 4 p.m.
The Pioneers then travel to West Newbury on Monday to take on Pentucket at 4 p.m.
