Wakefield clinches berth with victory over Melrose

WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield Soccer Association’s Girls’ U18 team qualified for the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup with its win over Melrose.
Enduring 90 plus degree temperatures, the Wakefield Girls’ U18 team has now qualified for the postseason, which takes place in Woburn this coming weekend.
The ladies finished the season with an impressive five wins to only one defeat and one hard fought 0-0 tie against a U19 team from Dracut.
Sunday’s play-in game win over Melrose’s GU18 team, clinched a berth into the tournament for Wakefield.
Congratulations went out to the players for a wonderful regular season and the WSA wishes them the best of luck as they head into the Commissioner’s Cup Tournament.
Players on the team include Hannah Dziadyk, Sarah Melanson, Paige Dubé, Alexa Pesce, Olivia Dziadyk, Meaghan Foley, Grace Collins, Gina Barbera, Caroline Hurley, Jenny Summers, Meagan Gibbons, Rachel Hatheway, Abby Chapman, Alyssa Corso, Christina Freni, Courtney Hill, Brooke Lilley, Rylee Parent, and Brianna Smith.
The coaches are Jim Grady and David Chapman.
