WAKEFIELD — James Paul Gutro, 89, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019. He was born on October 2, 1929 and was a longtime resident of Wakefield.

Jim’s hobbies included hunting and fishing, and he spent many years of his life at his camp in Wentworth, N.H. He also loved Plum Island, where he had fond memories of fishing with his dad and his brother, Dick. Jim also had a penchant for “free things,” like taking the elastics off of the broccoli at Market Basket to use as his billfold and “helping himself” to a cart-load of engine oil left in a store parking lot – only to find it was used and he had to pay for its disposal. One of his greatest loves was the Kowloon Restaurant, where every family birthday and celebration took place. He was quite a story-teller, and his “colorful” vocabulary certainly kept his audience captivated.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Francis (Dick) Gutro, and his sister, Marion Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Gutro (Sparks) of Tewksbury; his sister, Marie Curran and her husband, Gerald of Litchfield, N.H; and his children, Paula Fuller and her husband Michael, of Wilmington; James Gutro Jr. and wife, Lisa of Lincoln, N.H.; and Patricia Butler and her husband, David, of Merrimack, N.H.; seven grandsons (Michael Fuller, James Gutro, Matthew Gutro, Brian Gutro, Nicholas Butler, Jesse Butler and Derek Butler) and three great-granddaughters, Lila Fuller, Nina Fuller and Athena Gutro as well as several nieces and nephews.

At Jim’s request, no services will be held.
