LYNNFIELD — Hard work pays off.
Students in grades 9-11 were recognized for their academic achievements in the classroom during Lynnfield High School’s recent Underclass Awards Night ceremony in the auditorium.
“We are acknowledging and honoring the outstanding achievements of these underclassmen,” said LHS Assistant Principal Michael McLeod. “They have shown remarkable dedication, hard work and commitment inside the classroom. These individuals have inspired our staff and have made significant contributions in each of the academic departments at Lynnfield High School.”
School Counseling Head Kathryn Moody presented 11 book awards to 12 juniors during the ceremony.
Gianna Micieli was awarded the Lynnfield High School Book Award. Moody said the LHS Book Award, which is voted on by the faculty, is “presented to a junior who exemplifies the principles and ideals upon which LHS is built.”
“Gianna provides leadership through example, is kind, respectful, courteous and honest,” said Moody. “She appreciates the intrinsic value of learning, participates wholeheartedly in the daily life of LHS and believes what we know to be true — that kindness, respect for others, good humor and personal growth are all values upon which the quality of our lives depend.”

The Harvard University Book Award was presented to Nandana Nishanth. April Sun earned the Yale University Book Award.
Jacob Book was presented with the Dartmouth College Book Award. The winner of the Endicott College Book Award was Nicholas Lu.
The winner of the Lasell University Book Award was Jacqueline Chavez Lopez. David Glynn was the recipient of the Saint Anselm College Book Award.
Addison Munion and Ryan Giacobbi were the recipients of Saint Michael’s College Book Awards. The Salem State Book Award and Scholarship was given to Jhainier Gonzalez.
The winner of the Smith College Book Award was Madeline Migliero. Zarrar Raja was presented with the Suffolk University Book Award.

English
English Department Head Maryellen Iannibelli presented the English awards during Underclass Awards Night.
The grade 9 English Award winner was Marissa Olsen. The grade 9 English Honors Award winner was Meghan Geary. Andrew Carbone received grade 10 English Award. Clover Childress was the recipient of the grade 10 English Honors Award.
Nandana Nishanth received the Advanced Placement (AP) Language and Composition Award. The American Literature Award winner was Anna Raslavicus. Chloe Cieslewicz was presented with the grade 11 English Honors Award.
Social Studies
Social Studies Department Head Sue Breen presented the social studies awards.
Nicholas Raso was the recipient of the grade 9 World History Award. The grade 9 World History Honors Award winner was Meghan Geary. The winner of the grade 10 United States History 1 Award was Melanie O’Boyle. Ritvak Mahajian received the grade 10 U.S. History 1 Honors Award.
The winner of the grade 11 U.S. History 2 Award was Alexandra Schmidt. April Sun was the recipient of the AP U.S. History Award.
Science
Science Department Head Scott Gordon presented the science awards during Underclass Awards Night.
Elizabeth Morse was the recipient of the Bausch and Lomb Award, which is a scholarship to the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.
“The Bausch and Lomb Science Award is given annually to a student who has demonstrated high achievement and rigor in science and math classes, and scored very well on the PSAT or SAT math section,” said Gordon. “The award winners will have their application fee waived and are considered for Merit Scholarships worth at least $5,000 per year at the University of Rochester, totaling up to $20,000.”
April Sun received the Rensselaer Medal, which is a scholarship to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York.
“The medal was first presented in 1916 with two purposes: To recognize the superlative academic achievement of young men and women, and to motivate students towards careers in science, engineering and technology,” said Gordon. “This Merit Scholarship with a value of $40,000 per year and up to $160,000 total is guaranteed for four years for each medalist who is accepted and enrolls at Rensselaer.”
Nicholas Raso received the Biology Award. The recipient of the Biology Honors Award was Christine Choi. Jada Moga was presented with the Chemistry Award. The Chemistry Honors Award recipient was Prabhsimar Pabla.
Alexander Morales received the Anatomy and Physiology Award. The Anatomy and Physiology Honors Award winner was Jenna Supino. Anna Raslavicus was the recipient of the Forensic Science Award.
The winner of the AP Biology Award was Madeline Migliero. April Sun was the recipient of the AP Chemistry Award.
Math/Business/Technology
Math Department Head Karen Ellis and presented the math, business and technology awards.
The winner of the Algebra 1 Award was Arianna Roy. Calla Norden was the recipient of the Geometry Award. The winner of the Geometry Honors Award was Rishabh Anand. Jhainier Gonzalez received the Algebra 2 Award. The winner of the Algebra 2 Honors Award was Ollie Malone.
Reagan Chisholm received the Functions, Statistics and Trigonometry Award. The recipient of the Pre-Calculus Honors Award was Harris Hadzihasanovic.
Estella Steadman was presented with the AP Statistics Award. April Sun earned the AP Calculus Award.
Maeve Wertz was given the Technology in the 21st Century Award. The winner of the Computer Science CP Award was Christine Choi. Nicholas Bui received the Computer Science Honors Award.
The winner of the AP Computer Science Award was Nathan Malenfant. Prabhsimar Pabla was the recipient of the AP Computer Science Principles Award.
Brendan Koleszar was given the Cybersecurity Award. The winner of the Personal Finance Award was Addison Munion. Charlotte Beccia was the recipient of the Business Law Honors Award. Jhainier Gonzalez was given the Entrepreneurship and Marketing Award.
World Language
World Language Department Head Jodie Leibowitz presented the world language awards.
The recipient of the Spanish 1 Award was Omer Turkmen. Marissa Olsen was given the Spanish 2 Award. The Spanish 2 Honors Award winner was Thomas Burns. Mia Roostaie-Moore received the Spanish 3 Award. The winner of the Spanish 3 Honors Award was Vincent Pham. The recipient of the Spanish 4 Award was Heavenly Claypool. The Spanish 4 Honors Award winner was Gianna Micieli.
Lorna Murray received the French 2 Award. The winner of the French 2 Honors Award was Ollie Malone. Charlotte Rose received the French 3 Honors Award. Charlotte Beccia received the French 4 Honors Award.
Unified Arts
Unified Arts teacher Elizabeth Hayden presented the art, photography, design and music awards.
Meghan Geary was the winner of the grade 9 Art Award. Lauren Mattia received the grade 10 Art Award. Ereeny Georges was the recipient of the grade 11 Art Award. Jerusha Robins was given the AP Art Award. Celishanex Diaz was presented with the Scholastic Art Award Silver Key.
The winner of the grade 9 Photography Award was Cordelia Langton. Selenna Kosmas was the recipient of the grade 9 Graphic Design Award. The winner of the grade 10 Photography Award was Maeve Wertz. Nathan Malenfant won the grade 11 Graphic Design Award. The winner of the grade 11 Photography Award was Ian Wagon.
Charlotte Beccia was presented with the Scholastic Art Award Silver Key and the AP Photography Award. The winner of the Scholastic Art Award Silver Key and the AP Photography Award was Zoe Rockwell.
Tyler Ing received the grade 9 Honors Band Award. Kenneth Waldron-Price was presented with the grade 10 Honors Band Award. The grade 11 Honors Band Award winner was Grace Peña.
The winner of the grade 9 Rock Band Award was Charlie Verdile. Isabelle Ruocco was given the grade 10 Rock Band Award. The recipient of the grade 11 Rock Band Award was Nicholas DeGennaro.
Patrick Malone won the grade 9 Chorus Award. Carson Waldo received the grade 10 Chorus Award. The grade 11 Chorus Award recipient was Lila Martins. Siri Tudi won the Musical Award. Heavenly Claypool was presented with the Chamber Singers Award.
Health/PE
Iannibelli presented the physical education and health awards.
The ninth grade PE Award winners were Cordelia Langton and Jackson Tranfaglia. Angelina Wang and Ryan Sjoberg received the grade 10/11 PE Awards.
