GARDNER — The cross-country teams qualified for the All-State Meet after finishing in the top 10 in the Division 3A State Meet in Gardner on Nov. 13.
“This is the second straight year that both Lynnfield teams qualified for All-States, which is the first time this has happened in school history,” said Pioneers head coach Bill Wallace.
The girls’ team finished third out of 21 teams in the Division 3A State Meet after finishing with 101 points. Weston won the meet with 38 points. Gardner finished second with 97 points. Advanced Math and Science Academy was fourth with 160 points, and Bellingham finished fifth with 201 points. The lowest score in cross-country wins a meet.
Senior captain Maddie Daigle finished 12th in the meet (21:42). Sophomore Gabby Bottaro was 17th overall (22:24). Junior Katie Cash finished 27th in the meet (22:56).
Junior Viola Wertz was 29th overall (23:05). Sophomore Kaila George finished 32nd in the meet (23:23). Freshman Shea Moore was 51st overall (24:37). Senior captain Courtney Cumming finished 81st in the meet (25:47).
The boys’ cross-country team finished eighth in the Division 3A State Meet with 224 points. The boys’ team qualified for All-States after securing one of the two wild card spots that were available.
Senior captain Angelo DeLuca finished 22nd in the meet (18:31). Sophomore Shea McCarthy was 42nd overall (19:11). Senior captain John McKrell finished 44th in the meet (19:14).
Junior Ryan Nguyen was 70th overall (20:18). Senior captain Charlie Beatrice finished 75th in the meet. Sophomore Ashkrit Mahajan was 89th overall (20:48). Freshman Dylan Nguyen finished 113th in the meet (21:34).
The cross-country teams will compete in the All-State meet in Fort Devens on Saturday, Nov. 19.
