GEORGETOWN — The Lynnfield High boys’ soccer team improved to 4-0 overall and in the Cape Ann League on Sept. 14 as they doubled up host Georgetown 4-2.
Dillon Reilly led the attack recording his fourth-career hat trick.
“He has a knack for scoring,” said Pioneers head coach Brent Munroe, about the junior forward. “He has the desire and ability for it.”
The CAL First-Team All-Star scored the first goal of the day 10 minutes in assisted by Matt Reinold. Reilly’s second goal came 15 minutes later with fellow co-captain, Dhimitri Dono assisting.
The Royals scored with a little over five minutes remaining in the first half to cut the lead to one heading into halftime.
Early in the second half, the hosts tied it.
Rocco Scenna then delivered the eventual, game-winning goal, with just under 20 minutes remaining in the game. That tally was unassisted.
Scenna then assisted on Reilly’s final goal with eight minutes left.
“We outplayed them with the exception of late in the first half and early in the second,” said Munroe. “I was disappointed that they were able to tie it.”
Junior goalkeeper, Kelan Cardinal, improved to 4-0 in net as he made three saves.

On Sept. 12, the Pioneers beat CAL newcomer, Essex Tech, 4-1, up in Danvers.
“We played really well in the first half but took our foot off the gas in the second one,” recalled Munroe, whose squad led 3-0 at halftime.
Ten minutes in, Brendan Sokop scored the first goal assisted by Charlie Morgan.
Reilly made it 2-0 11 minutes later and that goal was unassisted.
With just over four minutes left in the opening half, Reinold had the third tally and that one was also unassisted.
Early in the second half, Reinold found the back of the Hawks net again and this one was assisted by Chris Calnan.
With 10 minutes remaining in the game, Tom O’Brien scored for the Hawks with Mason Coughlin assisting.
Cardinal made four stops in that game.
The next game for the Pioneers will be on Thursday (Sept. 21) as they visit rival North Reading. That contest will start at 4:45 p.m.
“That will be a big game,” stated Munroe, as the Hornets entered this week undefeated.
On Sept. 26, Lynnfield welcomes Pentucket at 4 p.m.
