BOSTON — The Cape Ann League Baker Division title was on the line on Jan. 28 as the Lynnfield High boys’ indoor track and field team took on Amesbury at the Track at New Balance in Brighton as both teams came in at 3-0.
The Red Hawks ended up beating the Pioneers, 68-32, to win the CAL Baker crown.
The highlight for the Pioneers was that they swept the high jump. Eli Mendese was first (6-2), Mike Murphy second (6-0) and Dillon Reilly third (5-8).
Mendese was also first in the long jump at 19-6. Murphy came in third at 17-10 which was a personal best.
Nick Groussis came in second in the 55-meters hurdles at 8.81 seconds while Shea McCarthy was second in the two mile at 11:03.36.
McCarthy also captured third in the mile at 5:02.73.
Reilly captured second in the 55-meters at 6.95 which was a personal-best time. His younger brother, Brendan, placed third in the 300-meters with a time of 38.76.
The 4×200 relay team of the Reilly’s, Charlie Morgan and Jessie Dorman also won with a time of 1:37.66.
