Henehan, Daley impress at CAL Open

BOXFORD — Deven Henehan and Paul Daley were the two Lynnfield High representatives in the Cape Ann League Open on Oct. 12 at Far Corner in West Boxford.

The two Pioneers did quite well as Henehan, a senior co-captain, came in second to Georgetown’s Ty Southhall who scored 69 points (Stableford scoring).

Henehan finished with 66 points.

Daley, a junior, was seventh as there were 24 total players.

“It was a very competitive day with a lot of good golfers,” said Pioneers head coach Mike Moresco. “Devin and Paul did a great job. Combined they had the best scorers of any school.”

The weather was pleasant with temperatures in the upper 60’s and mostly sunny.

“The course was in great shape especially the greens,” said Moresco. “I want to thank the staff there for what they do for area high school golf.”

This week, the team is preparing for the Division 3 North Sectional, which will be held at Stow Acres (North Course) on Oct. 23. That event, which is a stroke-play format, will start at 9 a.m.

“The kids are working to play a practice round out there over the weekend,” said Moresco.

Only the top three teams will advance to the Division 3 state final the following week.

Lynnfield are the Cape Ann League Kinney Division champions this fall as they finished 12-0 overall and 11-0 in the CAL.
