LHS volleyball still perfect after spiking Hornets

NORTH READING — The Lynnfield High volleyball team stayed undefeated last Friday afternoon as they beat North Reading 3-0 on the road. With that victory, the Pioneers improved to 14-0 overall and 12-0 in the Cape Ann League.

The Pioneers won the three games 25-15, 25-15 and 25-10 as they completed the season sweep over the Hornets.

Sam Lebruska led the attack with nine kills.

Melissa Morelli had eight kills and 18 assists. 

Sofia Ciriello led the team with 10 aces and Daniella Colarusso paced the Pioneers in digs with 11. 

Mac Schena controlled the net with three blocks.

On Wednesday (Oct. 16), the Pioneers have a huge rematch as they host Masconomet looking for the season sweep. That match, Lynnfield’s annual Dig Pink event to will start at 5:30 p.m.

The Chieftains enter this week at 12-3 overall and 10-1 in the CAL as Lynnfield handed them their lone loss back on Sept. 16 by a 3-0 score.

Lynnfield can officially capture the league crown with a win.

They then visit Arlington Catholic on Oct. 18 at 5:15 p.m. in a non-league match.

Head coach Brent Ashley’s squad then visit Hamilton-Wenham on Oct. 21 looking for a season sweep as they return to CAL action.

Lynnfield, which plays a 20-game regular-season schedule is currently only one of two unbeaten teams in Division 2 North along with Danvers as both schools are vying for the number-one seed.
