UPDATE: CAL-champ volleyball team sweeps Bishop Fenwick 3-0 to advance to Round of 16 of D3 states

No. 4 Lynnfield defeats No. 29 Bishop Fenwick 3-0 in the first round (Nov. 1).
Pioneers advance to the Round of 16 and will host No. 13 Lynn Classical on Tuesday. Nov. 4 at 4 p.m.

CAL-champion volleyball team finishes season on 10-game winning streak


LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield High volleyball team made it 10 in a row to end their regular season with a 3-0 sweep over Triton on the road Friday night. With that, Lynnfield finished the season with an 18-2 record, claiming the Cape Ann League title and earning a No. 7 in the latest MIAA Div. 3 power rankings. The brackets were released on Tuesday after press time. 

Lynnfield’s week also included a 3-0 win over Georgetown in the final regular season game at home. 

The Pioneers crushed the Royals with set scores of 25-5, 25-8 and 25-16. 

Alexia Vaquerano led the way with 14 kills. Audrey Manning added 8. 

Thayer Sutherland had an incredible 11 serving aces. 

Manning and Carina DeLeo each had 15 assists. 

Lynnfield cruised again with scores of 25-12, 25-9 and 25-18 against Triton. 

Manning had 13 kills, 4 aces and 15 assists. Vaquerano had 10 kills and 3 aces. Elliana Moretti had 14 digs. 

The Pioneers will likely finish with a ranking of 8 or higher which would guarantee two home playoff matches should they advance past the first round. 

The tournament brackets will be posted on MIAA.net as of Wednesday.
