LYNNFIELD — Two members of the Lynnfield High boys’ basketball team were named to the Cape Ann League All-Star team voted on by the league coaches.

The two Pioneers to make the team are seniors Alex Fleming and Madux Iovinelli as both players made the CAL First Team.

For Fleming, a forward, it was his third consecutive year on the First Team All-Stars as the co-captain averaged 19 points and 14 rebounds per game. He led the team in both of those categories.

“He had a terrific season,” stated Pioneers head coach John Bakopolus, “He did it all, not only on offense, but on defense as well. He is also a great kid.”

Fleming broke the 1,000 point plateau this season.

MADUX IOVINELLI

Iovinelli made it for the first time as this was his lone season with the team. The center also averaged a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards per game.

“He made our defense go,” said Bakopolus. “He was a very good addition for us and made a big difference.”

This season, the Pioneers reached the MIAA Division 3 Round of 16 before losing to Norwell, 70-48, on the road.

Lynnfield finished at 15-7 overall.

Norwell ended up winning the Div. 3 state title this past weekend finishing undefeated at 25-0 as they defeated Old Rochester, 64-61, in overtime up in Lowell.

In the CAL, the Pioneers went 13-3 as they ended up in 2nd place in the CAL Kinney Division behind Newburyport.
