LYNNFIELD — This past Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Stadium,  the Lynnfield High girls’ soccer team tied guest Danvers, 3-3, on Lynnfield Youth Soccer Day as the Pioneers boys’ team played their game afterwards.

With that draw, the Pioneers’ record went to 11-2-2 overall as it was their first non-league game of the year.

Trailing 3-2, the Falcons tied it when Rylee Sullivan scored her third goal of the day with just over one minute left in the game.

Things stated off very well for the Pioneers as it looked like it was going to be a rout early on.

Alex Schmidt scored her first goal of the season in the second minute assisted by Kaylee Barrett. One minute later, Giada Antidormi, hooked a corner kick into the Falcons net to make it 2-0.

“That was a great shot,” said Pioneers head coach Mark Vermont.

However, Sullivan scored her first goal in the 37th minute to cut the lead to one at the half.

Five minutes into the second half, Sullivan tied the game up at two.

Bella Clancy then put home a free kick by Antidormi in the 57th minute as the Pioneers regained the lead setting up Sullivan’s later heroics.

For Danvers (8-5-2), that tie clinched its 34th consecutive appearance in the state tournament which is the longest active streak in Eastern Mass. girls’ soccer.

Sabrina Hayman was the Lynnfield goalkeeper and she made six saves. Her record went to 2-0-1 with the draw.

It was also the team’s Senior Day as the four 12th-graders were honored at halftime.

“I was really happy for Alex getting her first goal on Senior Day,” said Vermont.

On Oct. 16, the Pioneers rolled over Rockport, 6-1, on the road.

Lynnfield improved to 11-2-1 in the Cape Ann League with the victory.

Antidormi and Ava Damiani led the attack as each player had two goals and one assist. Ella Pascucci and Kathleen Brown had the two other goals.

For Brown, a recent call-up from the junior varsity team, it was her first-career goal.

Lynnfield led this one 4-1 at the half as they were up 4-0 when the Vikings scored late in the first half.

Hayman made four saves in that game.

In a big match on Oct. 14, the Pioneers tied rival North Reading 1-1, at home. Lynnfield finished 1-0-1 against the Hornets this fall as they won 5-1 in the first meeting on Sept. 18.

In the game’s second minute, Taylor Osterlind scored assisted by Kiersten Higgins to give the Hornets the early lead.

The Pioneers tied it the 19th minute as Antidormi found the back of the net. Damiani assisted on the play.

“This game was back-and-forth,” pointed out Varmont. “They have a very good team and it was a tournament-type atmosphere.”

Victoria Minor was the Pioneer goalkeeper in this one as she made 10 saves.

On Oct. 23, the Pioneers welcome Pentucket at 4 p.m. in the final CAL game of the season. Lynnfield is looking for the season sweep over the Panthers as they won the first meeting, 3-0, back on Sept. 22.

On Oct. 25, the Pioneers host non-league Marblehead at 10 a.m. to wrap up the regular season.

The Pioneers are ranked No. 6 MIAA Division 3 power rankings.
