Update: Congratulations to Nick Kelter who placed 4th at New Englands in the triple jump!

FITCHBURG — Nick Kelter and Eli Mendese were the two Lynnfield High representatives in the MIAA Meet of Champions at Fitchburg State on June 5 and 7.

Kelter, a junior, broke his own school record in the triple jump at 46-3 to place fifth overall. There were 24 total competitors in that event.

“It was a foot better than his previous best,” pointed out Pioneers head coach Bill Wallace. “It has been a while since we have had an athlete place that high in this meet. He is now going to compete at the New England Championships this Saturday in Connecticut.”

Mendese, a senior, captured a tie for 12th in the high jump at 6-2. There were 34 athletes in this event.

“It was a good end to a great career which was one of the best in the history of Lynnfield track,” said Wallace.

In the regular season, the Pioneers were 1-2 as they finished in third place in the Cape Ann League Baker Division.
