LYNNFIELD — Last Friday afternoon, the Lynnfield High boys’ lacrosse team edged rival North Reading, 11-9, on the road.

With that victory, the Pioneers improved to 9-2 overall and 8-1 in the Cape Ann League as they won their fourth-consecutive game. They have now won nine of their last 10 games.

Kelan Cardinal led the Pioneers in scoring with four goals while Owen Considine led the team in points with six as he had three goals and three assists. Owen Doherty also recorded a hat trick.

Mike Murphy had the other tally.

Lynnfield goalie Ben Pimentel made 10 saves while Tyler Maddocks had 18 face-off wins.

The day before, the Pioneers beat Hamilton-Wenham, 14-4, at home on Senior Night.

Considine, the team’s top scorer, led the way on offense again as he had four goals and four assists. John Powers also found the back of the Generals net four times.

Murphy and Cardinal both had two goals and three assists while Doherty had two goals and one helper.

Pimentel turned back seven General shots on net while Maddocks had 17 face-off wins.

Before the game, the eight Pioneer 12th-graders were honored.

On May 7, the Pioneers visit Ipswich at 4 p.m. trying to get a season sweep over the Tigers who they beat, 10-8, back on April 10.

They then play a non-league game on May 9 as they welcome Beverly at 6 p.m.

Lynnfield returns to CAL action on May 13 when they host Newburyport at 4 p.m.

The Pioneers enter this week ranked No. 7 in the MIAA Division 4 power rankings. The top 32 teams at the end of the regular season automatically qualify for the state tournament.
