LYNNFIELD — Local residents Kristen Dorsky and Anna Thompson will be lacing up their running sneakers for the third year in a row to participate in the Falmouth Road Race, a scenic and iconic seven-mile course through Falmouth on Saturday, Aug. 9.

For Dorsky and Thompson, the Falmouth Road Race is more than just a race — it’s a way to honor and support a cause close to their hearts.

Dorsky and Thompson will be running on behalf of Marisa’s Mission, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support, comfort and financial assistance to individuals and families affected by cancer.

Marisa’s Mission was founded in memory of Marisa Federico, who lost her battle with cancer at the age of 37. The organization helps patients and their loved ones navigate the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis, offering everything from travel assistance for treatments to creating meaningful experiences for those in the fight.

“Running this race for Marisa’s Mission is a privilege,” said Thompson. “We’ve seen firsthand the impact this organization makes in the lives of cancer patients, and we’re honored to do our small part to help.”

Dorsky agreed.

“Every dollar we raise goes directly toward making life a little easier for someone battling cancer,” said Dorsky. “We’re asking our community to join us in this mission.”

Dorsky and Thompson are working toward a fundraising goal and are gratefully accepting donations of any size. Contributions can be made directly via Venmo to @Anna-Thompson-71.
