Kitty Connection offers discounted cat adoptions

MEDFORD — Kitty Connection, a local non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless, abandoned, abused and unwanted pets is discounting adoption fees for cats this spring as a strategy for moving cats into loving forever homes faster and creating space in its foster network for an increasing number of homeless felines.

“Kitty Connection has been inundated with abandoned and surrendered cats to the point that our network of volunteer foster homes is running short of space to take more. To continue accepting homeless pets and prepare them to meet their forever families, we need to first find homes for kitties who have been in our care for a while,” Kitty Connection President Marie Mazzeo said. “We are discounting our adoption fees to make this happen.”

Blondie and Cheezy, two male orange tabbies five- and eight-years-old, respectively; Romeo, a five-year-old gray tabby; and Morgan Blue, a five-year-old brown and white tabby are examples of the many cats available for adoption during Kitty Connection’s “Clear the Rescue” discounted adoptions spring event. Others include senior cats like George and Bessie, ten-year-olds who need adopters or hospice foster homes for their elder years. Learn more about them and many other available adoptees and discounted adoption fees for each at kittyconnection.net/adopt/cats.

In addition to adopters, Kitty Connection is always in need of funds to pay for cats’ daily care and veterinary expenses. Spring fundraisers include a May 31 yard sale at 6 Cudworth Rd., Medford from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a June 7 rain date and a fundraiser at The Ford Tavern at 61 Locust St., Medford on June 10.

The Ford Tavern will donate 10% of all food orders between 3 and 10 p.m. on June 10 including take-out to Kitty Connection. In addition, Kitty Connection will have cat-themed items for sale and will raffle off a 1,710-piece Lego kit valued at $99 to create a seated tuxedo cat statue that stands nearly 13” tall and weighs over five lbs. Raffle tickets are on sale now, $10 for one and $20 for three. You can Venmo @Kittyconnection, code 4934. Email Accounting@KittyConnection.net with questions.

Kitty Connection annually rescues more than 450 homeless animals, has a low-cost spay and neuter program and funds over 375 spay and neuter procedures for pet owners in need each year, email lowcost@kittyconnection.net. Volunteers provide foster homes for cats and kittens until they are adopted and Kitty Connection ensures that they are spayed/neutered, tested for common illnesses and vaccinated before they go to their new homes.
