MELROSE — The City of Melrose is sharing the following updates for the upcoming week:
Upcoming holidays
Melrose Public Schools’ April break begins on Friday, April 18 at 12 noon. Schools will be closed during the week of April 21. City Hall is open for regular hours on Friday, April 18, but some offices may have reduced staffing due to employee religious observances. The City Assessor’s office will be closed on Friday, April 18. All City offices, except police and fire stations, will be closed on Monday, April 21 in observance of Patriots’ Day. Trash and recycling will not be collected on April 21, and there will be a one-day delay in collection for the remainder of the week.
Construction will begin at Lynn Fells Parkway and Melrose Street
Next week, beginning Tuesday, April 22, the City of Melrose will conduct water main work on Crystal Street (from Melrose Street to Main Street), which may affect motorists and pedestrians on Lynn Fells Parkway. The following week, beginning Monday, April 28, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation will begin construction on an intersection improvement project of Lynn Fells Parkway and Melrose Street. Work will occur on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. over several months.
During work hours, the DCR will implement a lane shift and other traffic changes. Traffic will generally be maintained in both directions, but some delays and interruptions are anticipated, especially during school drop off, pick up, and commuting hours.
