MELROSE — The City of Melrose is sharing the following updates for the upcoming week:
MPS seeking crossing guards for 2025-26 school year
Melrose Public Schools is hiring per-diem traffic supervisors to help our students safely cross public roadways while walking to and from school. Hours of work are mornings from approximately 7:40 a.m. to 8:25 a.m. and approximately a half hour at school dismissal, Monday through Friday. Apply today at MelroseSchools.com.
Slice of the City: Ward 3 on Sept. 3 and Ward 1 on Sept. 4
Meet your elected officials and enjoy a slice of pizza with your neighbors at a Slice of the City event near you! The pizza is free and funded privately and the meetup will be an informal opportunity for residents to connect with their elected officials, share questions and concerns, and get to know neighbors. Residents of Ward 3 (the neighborhoods of Melrose around West Wyoming Avenue and West Foster Street) are invited to meet Mayor Grigoraitis and Ward 3 Councilor Robb Stewart over a slice of pizza at the Conant Park playground between 6 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3 and residents of Ward 1 (northwest portion of the City, also known as the Melrose Highlands) can join Mayor Grigoraitis, Ward 1 Councilor Manjula Karamcheti and City Council President Leila Migliorelli at the Roosevelt School playground between 6 and 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 4.
Fall Rec Programs accepting signups
Although the hot August weather makes it feel like summer will never end, registration is now OPEN for Fall Programs with the Melrose Recreation department! Check out the full program catalogue and sign up for programs online at www.cityofmelrose.org/recreation.
City Yard schedule
The Melrose City Yard is open for recycling and yard waste drop-off every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The Yard will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 23.
