City Hall updates

MELROSE — The City of Melrose is sharing the following updates for the upcoming week:

Independence Day information

All Melrose municipal buildings and offices, except for police and fire stations, will be closed on Friday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. The Melrose Public Library will be closed on July 4 and summer weekend hours will continue through the months of July and August, with the library closed every weekend.

Trash and recycling will not be collected on July 4, with Friday curbside collections delayed to Saturday, July 5.

City Yard hours – revised schedule

As the new fiscal year begins in July, the DPW City Yard is revising its Saturday schedule to account for budget cuts.

Beginning in July, the City Yard will only be open for recycling and yard waste drop-off every other Saturday. The Yard will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the following Saturdays: July 12, July 26, August 9, August 23, September 6, September 20 (also a recycling event for motor oil, gas and antifreeze), October 4 (also a recycling event for rigid plastics), October 18 (also a recycling event for hazardous household waste), November 1, November 15, and November 29.

The City Yard weekday drop-off schedule will not change.
