MELROSE — The Melrose Farmers’ Market will open for the season on June 5. Every Thursday through October 30, the Market will run at Bowden Park from 1 to 6 p.m. and feature fresh, local produce, seafood and eggs. Shoppers will also be able to purchase prepared foods, locally produced spreads, baked goods including allergy-friendly items, teas, personal care products, creative gifts from local artisans and more. Local businesses and non-profit organizations will also be featured.
Bring your picnic blanket, enjoy children’s activities from 3 to 4 p.m. and stay for live music from 4 to 6 p.m. Special event days with coordinating activities this year include June 5, Opening Day; June 26, Pride Day; July 10, Family Day; July 31, Healthy Living Day; August 7, National Farmers’ Market/Sustainability Day; September 11, Older Adults Day; September 18, Back to School Day; and October 30, Halloween.
Customers with Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards may use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) benefits directly with three farms: Dick’s Market Garden, Moonlight Farm and Oakdale cards. For an additional $10 SNAP match, customers can swipe their EBT cards at the Market table.

The Market is located at Bowden Park on West Emerson and Vinton Streets across from the Cedar Park commuter rail station. Free parking is available at the Cedar Park Commuter Rail Stop and surrounding neighborhood streets, but patrons are encouraged to walk or bike.
