WATERTOWN—The Melrose High girls indoor track team proved they earned their league title for a reason with a nice 4th place showing at the 2025 Middlesex League Meet at the Track at New Balance on Monday, finishing first among all Freedom League (small) competition. Winner Lexington prevailed among all ML 12 competition.
As they prepare for post season, Melrose competed among the best in the league, and they beat closest rivals Wilmington and Wakefield in the process, earning 54 points.
Melrose’s best result was a silver medal second place finish by the team’s 4×200 team of Jill Frawley, Lara McLucas, Abby Taylor and Lauren Healy. Among those earning bronze medalists were Lara McLucas in the 300 dash, Emme Boyer in the shot, Cadence L’Heureux in the long jump and Reilly Powell in the 2 mile.
Those also medaling in their events included Nora McCormack in the 1000, Ella Walsh in the 55 dash, Ella Yorkey in the 600, Lauren Healy in the 55 hurdles, and the 4×400 relay team of Cadence L’Heureux, Ella Yorkey, Nora McCormack and Emma Drago.
Next week, Melrose will take part in the highly anticipated MIAA State Finals. They have qualified a large amount of athletes who are expected to bring home medals for Melrose. They include:
