MELROSE HIGH track was well represented at the National Indoor Finals held last weekend in two locations. Nine members of the girls team qualified to race at the Nike Indoor National Finals in New York. They included their 4×800 team of Maizie Frakt, Ella Yorkey, Nora McCormack and Reilly Powell and the SMR team of Lara McLucas, Abby Taylor, Emma Drago and Cadence L’Heureux. Both teams cracked the top 20 with the SMR placing 14th and the relay team playing 18th. Emme Boyer qualified in the shot put. The boys’ team qualified their shuttle hurdles team who competed at Nationals held at New Balance Track in Boston and also did well with a 21st finish out of 43 teams. They were headed by Giancarlo Martinis Torres, Max Lanciani, Brendan Radzik and Charlie Finocchiaro. Their SMR 1600m team of Radzik, Tyler Lecomte, Matt Sarnoski and Adam Caldwell also competed along with senior captain Caleb Barnes qualified individually by running the 500m. Congrats to the team on a tremendous winter season!
