MELROSE — The Melrose Public Schools is seeking feedback on the draft of their Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan.
The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requires that districts create and implement a prevention and intervention plan and review the plan biennially. The MPS plan draws directly from DESE’s model plan and MA General Law Chapter 71, Section 370.
The draft plan’s statement of purpose reads, in part: “Melrose Public Schools recognizes the importance of providing a safe and supportive environment for all students and will not tolerate any form of bullying (which includes cyberbullying) or retaliation in our schools, on our school grounds, or during our school related activities. We will promptly investigate all reports and complaints of bullying and/or retaliation to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment. We invite members of our learning community and citizens of Melrose to partner with us to create a school culture of safety, respect, and sense of belonging for all.”
School officials encourage you to review the draft, which can be accessed on the MPS website at the following link: https://melrosedistrictma.sites.thrillshare.com/page/bullying-preventions and submit your feedback by Friday, October 20th via the Google linked on the website and found here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0YgjypxVgPJ3w4HhAKpv0L0GbEeWS_IV9aXhnhA3LV0HNhQ/viewform.
