MELROSE — The City of Melrose is sharing the following updates for the upcoming week:
Fall Rec programs accepting signups
Melrose Recreation fall programs are still accepting registration! Flag Football (Grades K-6) and Middle School Football (Grades 6-8) are accepting signups until Friday, August 15. Youth sports programs are open to athletes of all skill levels! Ell Pond clean-up on August 2
Join the Melrose Conservation Commission on August 2 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to keep Ell Pond free of water chestnuts, an invasive aquatic plant. Volunteers can bring their kayaks, canoes or SUP boards and join us as we paddle around the pond and scoop up water chestnuts for disposal, or help out on the shore by piling up water chestnuts that the boaters have brought back. Bring a water bottle, hat, gloves and a bucket or laundry basket. Melrose has made great strides in improving Ell Pond’s water quality; let’s keep it that way through volunteering! Volunteers will gather in the parking lot by the dog park just off of Lynn Fells Parkway, across from Melrose High School.
City Yard schedule
The Melrose City Yard is open for recycling and yard waste drop-off every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The Yard will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 9.
