MELROSE — Join friends and neighbors in a community wide cleanup on Saturday, November 2. The biannual event sponsored by Keep Melrose Beautiful brings together individuals, families, groups and clubs to pick up litter and debris at more than 80 locations across the city.
Advance sign-ups are strongly encouraged; the SignUpGenius link can be found at keepmassbeautiful.org/about-us/keep-melrose-beautiful.html. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and many smaller sites that can be cleaned up quickly are still available. Before starting to work, participants are asked to stop by one of four registration sites to confirm their cleanup intentions: City Hall, Ell Pond, Lincoln School and the site at Franklin and Belmont Sts. Gloves, bags and litter grabbers will be available at these sites.
Keep Melrose Beautiful, a volunteer-led group dedicated to keeping the city clean and green, partners with Mayor Jen Grigoraitis, the Melrose Department of Public Works, Zero Waste Melrose, Melrose Solid Waste and Recycling, the Ell Pond Improvement Council and other local entities. The group also works with other chapters of Keep Massachusetts Beautiful on educational, beautification and waste reduction programs.
