Dean Cronis, 85

MELROSE — Dean Cronis, 85, passed away at the Bostonian Nursing & Rehab Center in Dorchester on March 21, 2018.

Dean was born in Melrose on November 5, 1932 to the late John and Vivian (Kostas) Chronopoulos. He was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and Emerson College and received his masters in Education from St. John University in New York City.

Mr. Cronis was an actor and was in theater in New York City for many years and was also a bilingual teacher in NYC. Dean enjoyed traveling all over the United States, Europe, and traveled to Greece numerous times a year to visit friends and family. He was also an avid reader, spent a lot of time at the New York City Public Library and had an extensive library at his home.

Dean was the loving brother of Cynthia (Chronopoulos) Harris of Arlington and her late husband John Harris; and the late Demetra and Timothy Chronopoulos. Beloved uncle of Gregory Harris and his wife Meghan Searl of Boston, and Christopher Harris and his wife Kristin of Arlington. Cherished great-uncle of Catherine, Sophia and Nicholas. Longtime friend and companion the late Russell Etter. Also survived by many cousins and friends all over the world.

Funeral services and interment will be private.
