Diane H. Ingersoll, 73

The matriarch of her family; always cooked the Thanksgiving dinner

LYNN – Diane H. (Hazard) Ingersoll, 73, died at Alliance Health at Rosewood in Peabody after a long battle with cancer on February 21, 2022.

Diane was born in Weymouth on January 2, 1949 to the late James and Mary (Homer) Hazard. She was raised in Lynn, graduated from Lynn Classical High School and was a lifelong resident of Lynn. Mrs. Ingersoll worked as a legal secretary for 40 years, retiring in 2000 from the firm of Day, Berry & Howard. Diane and her husband, Dennis, enjoyed spending summers in Old Orchard Beach in Maine, a week every fall at the Von Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont and taking cruises to Halifax, Nova Scotia and Bermuda. They also went to many of Dennis’s US Marine Corps reunions throughout the US.

Diane loved spending time with her family and was the matriarch of her family. Mrs. Ingersoll took care of and helped raised her younger siblings while her mother worked long hours in the restaurant business. Diane was a great cook and cooked the Thanksgiving dinner for her family every year since 1980.

She was the devoted wife and companion of Dennis P. Ingersoll. Loving sister of John Hazard, Richard Hazard, Mary Hazard and the late James Hazard US Army and the late David Hazard.

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 4 – 7 p.m. with a funeral service at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
