MELROSE — Herbert K. Carney, 84, of Wakefield, Burlington and South Boston, passed peacefully at home on January 15, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Herb is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 59 years, Alice Feeley Carney. Herb was the devoted father of Kevin and wife Carol, the late Michael, Brian, and Thomas and spouse Steven Scott; loving grandfather of Katherine, Michael, Robert, Thomas, Alexander, Sean, Kayla, and Abigail; son of the late Herbert and Alice Carney; brother of the late John and Thomas Carney; Brother-in-law of Carol and the late George Lee, Thomas and Joan Feeley, Jeremiah and Mary Jane Feeley, Catherine and Larry Dennison, Mary and Paul Downing, Paul and Nancy Feeley, Maureen and Jack Woods, David and Karen Feeley, the late Francis Feeley, Paul and the late Rose MacDonald, and the late Charles Feeley and Susan Mullens.
Herb was a 39-year employee of the Polaroid Corporation, member of the Burlington Knights of Columbus, a 15-year member of Burlington Little League and Babe Ruth, and a member of the Strandway Castle Island Association. Herb was a member of the Gate of Heaven High School Class of 1953, and served in the Navy from 1954-1956.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155, Main St. Wakefield on Saturday, January 19. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Interment was private.
