Margaret “Debbie” Stamegna

Leaves a legacy of kindness and joyful living

MELROSE — It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Debbie Stamegna, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who left this world peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on July 8, 2025.

Margaret was the devoted wife to Joseph Stamegna, and the proud mother and mother in law to Joseph Stamegna Jr, Shannon Stamegna, Bonnie Stamegna, Lauren Fielding, and the late Richard Fielding. She was a cherished grandmother to Tyler, Colin, Bryana, and Joseph III, all of whose lives were brightened by her boundless love, warmth and unwavering support.

Margaret was born into a large family to the late Jean Wirtanen, and was a caring sister and sister in law to Tom and Lucille Gunn, Pam and Tim Daye, Nancy Ruggiero, Richard and Stephanie Wirtanen, and the late John “Jackie” Wirtanen, all with whom she shared countless memories, laughter, and the unbreakable bonds of family. Her life was a beautiful example of kindness, generosity, and joy; a life dedicated to caring for others and spreading warmth wherever she went.

To know Debbie was to know a heart full of compassion. She was the person who always remembered the small things, who offered a helping hand without hesitation and who made everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. Her family was the center of her world and she filled their lives with happiness, comfort, and unconditional love. Her legacy of kindness and joyful living will remain forever in the hearts of them and all who were blessed to know her.
