MELROSE — Phyllis A. (Terenzio) Capuano, 87, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on July 24, 2019.
Phyllis was born in Winthrop on March 13, 1932 to the late Dominic and Rose (Fusco) Terenzio. She was raised in Revere, attended Revere Schools and has been a resident of Melrose for over 60 years. Mrs. Capuano worked as the bookkeeper for her husband’s business Capuano Construction in Melrose for many years. Phyllis enjoyed spending winters in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. for over 25 years and at Bow Lake in the summer for 58 years. She loved entertaining and spending time at Bow Lake with all her family, relatives and friends. Phyllis was an excellent cook, enjoyed baking and knitting and would make many sweaters, hats, mittens and blankets for all her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Capuano was a founding member of Incarnation Church in Melrose, was one of the first committee members of the Stoneham Figure Skating Club and was a member of the Kappa Swap Shop in Melrose.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph D. Capuano. Loving mother of Larry Capuano and Karen, Jane Kendall and Robert and Maria MacInnes and Bill all of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of Joseph Capuano and wife Brooke, Alyssa Capuano, Rob and Natalie Kendall and Jill and Kaitlyn MacInnes. Caring sister of Joseph “Red” Terenzio and the late Ralph, Dominic, Mary, Connie, Antoinetta and Rose. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday, July 29. Funeral procession from Gately Funeral Home was on Tuesday morning July 30, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St. Melrose. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Research Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
