William A. Lacey, 65

STONEHAM — William (Bill) A. Lacey, 65, of Stoneham passed away on August 8, 2019.

He was husband to Linda (Scanlon) Lacey, the beloved son of William J. Lacey of Erie, Pa. and the late Martha (Royce) Lacey, devoted brother to Mary S. Lacey of Stoneham and Timothy M. Lacey of Malden, and the loving nephew to Jack and Nancy Lacey of Erie, Pa. Bill is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

William was born on August 10, 1953 in Boston, raised in the suburbs, and attended Boston University. His major studies were in communication and psychology. Bill started his career in banking as a corporate communication specialist. He later moved into a prepress and graphics firm where he advanced from client service representative to Client Service Manager, and ultimately General Manager. Bill later pursued a career in human services, working with individuals with cognitive disorders, as well as mental and physical disabilities.

Throughout high school and college Bill performed in bands and taught drums to people of all ages.

William was a parishioner of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish of Wakefield, where he served as both lector and usher. He was the author of a short inspirational book, “Seeing with the Heart,” and was a regularly featured social commentator for a radio station in Georgia.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday, August 12. Funeral procession from Gately Funeral Home on Tuesday morning was followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield. Interment was at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
