Patriots fan was avid runner and skier
LYNNFIELD — Michael W. Trainor, 76 of Lynnfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025 at the Sunrise Senior Living Center in Burlington.
He was born in Boston on November 12, 1948 and was the son of the late Ellen (Lanning) and Joseph Trainor. Mike’s childhood was spent in Quincy and he always valued time with his family from growing up with his dear mother and sisters, to marrying his love and starting a family of his own and for close to the last decade spending as much time with his grandchildren as possible.
An alumnus of Catholic Memorial High School and Boston College, Mike started working for the government as a Treasury Agent but soon went on to a career as a Private Investigator which he very much enjoyed. Mike took pride in solving cases and finding lost heirs to estates.
Skiing was a favorite activity for Mike, first with friends and then his family. He was a dedicated father who attended every game, concert and recital. Mike spent many seasons coaching his kids’ soccer teams and for a few years volunteered to run the Lynnfield travel soccer program.
During his retired years Mike enjoyed time at the lake house or sitting by the pool on Patrice Ln. A passionate Patriots fan, Mike also kept up with the news and was an avid runner for most of his life. Above all, time spent with family both immediate and extended from parties, holidays, events or just sitting on the couch together, brought Mike joy.
He was the loving husband of Ruthie (Andrews) Trainor; the beloved father of Christine Barnes and her husband Chris of Lynnfield and Matthew Trainor and his wife Laura of Lynnfield. Mike was the prized brother of Mary Ellen and her husband Tony Losordo of Hanover; Sheila and her husband Steve Losordo of Hingham; and Ginny and the late Dean Garland of Rockland. He was the cherished grandfather of Emily and Andrew Barnes and Freddie Trainor. Mike is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews whom he adored.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday, February 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. His funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Maria Goretti Parish, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield on Friday, February 14 at 10:30 a.m. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield.
