MELROSE — Myrtle D. Fornauf, resident of Melrose passed peacefully on April 11 at her home. She was 85.
Born in Stoneham on August 13, 1939, Myrtle was one of six children of the late Charles and Elsie (Littlefield) Seaman. Myrtle was a lifelong resident of the Melrose community where she grew up and later raised her family. A proud graduate of Melrose High School, class of 1957, Myrtle was known for her spirit and warmth. In her youth, she enjoyed playing basketball and horseback riding, hobbies that fueled her zest for life.
After marrying her cherished husband Richard Fornauf, the couple built a loving home and shared countless wonderful years together filled with laughter and love.
Myrtle devoted much of her life to her family. She was kind, tough and loving. She worked as a retail clerk where her kindness and sweet nature touched the hearts of many. Myrtle had a passion for reading, knitting beautiful Afghans for those she loved and following her beloved Boston Bruins. Her yearly trips to Florida and adventures to Canada, as well as summers spent at the cottage her grandfather built in Ogunquit, ME held a special place in her heart.
Myrtle was the beloved wife of Richard F. Fornauf, who loved her dearly with whom she shared nearly 55 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Richard P. Fornauf and his wife Beth of PA. Cherished grandmother of Isabel, Joey and Jackson. Loving sister of the late Charles Seaman, Earl Seaman, Malcolm Seaman, Betty Gore and Elaine Seaman. She is also survived by her treasured nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and Amanda and Ashely who Myrtle took care of and considered her their “Ma”.
