All invited to free NNO event Aug. 5

NORTH READING — The North Reading Community Impact Team (CIT) is hosting its annual National Night Out (NNO) for all ages on Tuesday, August 5 at Ipswich River Park from 5–7:30 p.m.

National Night Out is an event focused on strengthening North Reading by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local resource partners.

The CIT has partnered with more than 20 local and area vendors to offer programming and resources for all ages and abilities. In addition, the program will host free attractions throughout the evening including a touch-a-truck patio, petting zoo, DJ, face painting and roaming magician.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with a community walk around the track followed by a cardio drumming performance featuring local seniors. Students from Cervizzi’s Martial Arts Academy will also perform a karate demonstration.

Coloring with a Hero will be available throughout the event at the Veterans Table. A quiet corner for those that need a break will be set up near the Flint Memorial Library’s table. Young people are encouraged to join a story time with Fire Chief Don Stats, Police Chief Mark Zimmerman, and Veterans Services Director TJ Tedeschi, also at the library table (complete schedule listed below).

The CIT and Walmart are again sponsoring free raffles. Water is being provided by the Reading Co-Op Bank, and amusements are sponsored by the Reading Rotary Club, The Savings Bank, and the Church of the Good Shepherd.

FREE BBQ

Additionally, the North Reading Police Department will be cooking a free barbecue with hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and veggie burgers, so get them while they last!

In the event of inclement weather the rain date is Tuesday, August 12 at 5–7:30 p.m. at Ipswich River Park.
