Car crashes into UPS Store on Main Street

NORTH READING — Police Chief Mark Zimmerman and Fire Chief Don Stats report that the North Reading Police and Fire Departments responded Friday to a crash in which a vehicle struck a building.

On Friday, March 21, at approximately 11 a.m., the North Reading Police and Fire Departments were called to the area of 25 Main St., for a report that a vehicle struck a building.

North Reading Police and North Reading Fire Engine 3 and Rescue 1 arrived to discover that a 61-year-old North Reading woman drove into the UPS Store at 25 Main St. There were no reported injuries.

The North Reading Building Inspector was called to the scene to evaluate damage to the building. It was determined that despite significant damage to the building’s facade, the building remains structurally sound.

According to the police report, video of the accident was obtained from surrounding businesses and the driver was subsequently issued a summons by police for negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
