NORTH READING — In just over one month, the streets of North Reading will be filled with runners taking part in the 16th running of the North Reading 5K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning.
Preparation for the race has gone smoothly. Race director Kirsten MacLellan says, “we are off to a great start with registrations for the event. Currently there are about 800 people who have signed up for the 5K race or the 1.75-mile walk. We have also been very fortunate with so many businesses helping with sponsorships.”
Registration is online at www.northreadingturkeytrot.com. Join your neighbors and friends. Register before Monday, November 10 to enjoy low entry fees and to guarantee receipt of a commemorative T-shirt of the size you want! Shirts will not be guaranteed if you register after this date and entry fees will increase by $10 to $15.
The race will be capped at 1,500 participants. Online registration will continue through midnight, Sunday, November 16, or until the 1,500-registrant threshold is reached. The North Reading Hornet Hall of Fame, which organizes the event, has again partnered with Marathon Sports in Reading center to offer pre-race pick up of T-shirts and bib numbers during store hours the weekend before the race. This is in addition to the usual pick up held in the cafeteria at NRMS/HS on Monday evening, November 24, the week of Thanksgiving.
Sponsoring at the premier level this year is Aesthetic Dentistry. They have been a long-time sponsor but have increased their commitment to the event this year. Also at the premier level is SourcePromo by SourcePak. Continuing to support the event is True North Realty, Marathon Sports, Horseshoe Grille, NGP Management – Dunkin’, North Reading Diamond Club, Arbon Equipment, Torra Law, Por-Shun, and Kitty’s Restaurant. Lady Di’s Barbershop, Reading Gymnastics Academy, Denaro Chiropractic, Jason Elliott Septic Pumping, Cervizzi’s Martial Arts Academy, Harmeling Physical Therapy, Flush Portable Services and O’Deas Barbershop have all supported the event. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHALLENGE
The Elementary School Challenge is on as each school will strive to get 20% of their student population to take part on race day.
Continuing our involvement with the North Reading Middle School Early Act Club, food items, personal supplies, and household cleaning products will be collected for the North Reading Food Pantry at the pre-race bib pick-up at NRMS/HS.
