North Reading gymnasts have great scores at league meet

SALEM, NH — On Feb. 6, the North Reading-Andover High co-op gymnastics team participated in the Merrimack Valley Conference league meet at A2 in Salem, New Hampshire.

Out of the nine teams there, the Warnets came in 3rd place.

Central Catholic was first with a total score of 146.2. North Andover, placed second at 141.25 while the Warnets had a score of 139.65.

“We did well on the vault and bars but had some falls on the balance beam,” pointed out Warnets head coach Marlena Bresnick.

The top six individuals in each event medal.

On the vault, Kelsie Berry was fifth (9.4) while Alex Lee was sixth (9.35). Both girls are freshmen from North Reading.

On the bars, Berry captured fourth (8.8) while Lee was fifth (8.6).

Lee placed third in the all-around with a total score of 35.8.

Another North Reading freshman, Alexis Ciavardone, came in fourth on the floor exercise with a 9.2.

The next meet for the Warnets will be on Feb. 17 at the State Individuals. That event will take place at Tewksbury High. The all-around competitors will start at 1 p.m. while the other individual events will start at 4 p.m.

Lee (all-around), Berry (floor and bars), Ciavardone (floor) and Olivia Moccia (bars) will represent the team.

In the regular season, the Warnets came in second place in the MVC going 7-1 behind undefeated Central Catholic.
