
NORTH READING — The Performing Arts Department has been very busy weekend representing NRHS!
The Masquers production of Cyrano de Bergerac won the state semifinal round last weekend and will be moving onto finals at the John Hancock Theater in Boston March 27-29.
In addition, Mikey Manupelli won best actor for his role as Cyrano; Vinny Costantino won best supporting actor for his role as Perc; Adriana Gonzales, Elliana Rainey and Vasiliki Kouiroukidis won best costumes; Daniela Voisinet won best lighting design; and the team of Sofia Naulivou, Matt Capalbo, Stevie Schomp, Anthony Spina, Adriana Gonzales, Vinny Costantino, Nolan Barrette, Mikey Manupelli, Matt Mulcahy, Eulalia Agganis and Grace Coleman won best set design.
Last, but not least, Sofia Naulivou won the David Dooley Award for unsung hero!
Masquers is currently ranked in the top 15 schools in the state for theater for the third year in a row, according to director Allison Kane.
Masquers will perform one more home show of Cyrano on Tuesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. in the PAC. Tickets are $5 at the door (cash only).
WINTER PERCUSSION
The Winter Percussion crew performed in the Independent Regional Class at the NESBA competition in Salem, N.H. last Saturday and took home first place in this division, under the direction of Dan Muse.
NOTEorious OFF TO BROADWAY!
Last Sunday, NOTEorious performed at Mechanics Hall in Worcester against the top 10 schools in the Northeast (NY, CT, RI, MA, NH, VT). NOTEorious won first place and will be moving on to perform on Broadway in New York City on April 25 at 7 p.m. against the top nine groups from across the United States, Canada and the UK.
In addition, Eulalia Agganis won best soloist; Vinny Costantino and Mikey Manupelli won best arrangement for the entire set; and Alivia Rowe, Eulalia Agganis and Vinny Costantino won best choreography for the entire set.
“NOTEorious beat its own high score for the semifinal round by 14 points setting another record. NOTEorious currently sits at the top 7 in the U.S. We wait for two wild cards, which will complete the nine going to NYC,” said Kane, who directs the group.
