NORTH READING — On Monday afternoon, the North Reading High field hockey team snapped its two-game losing streak as they beat Essex Tech, 3-0, at home.
With that shutout, the Hornets improved to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the Cape Ann League.
“We played pretty well,” said Hornets head coach Mikayla Allen. “We looked very cohesive out there.”
Brittany Morris scored the only goal of the opening half with 9:43 left in the second quarter. The goal came off a rebound of a corner.
With 8:16 remaining in the third, Alaina Driscoll made it 2-0 and that goal was also unassisted.
The final goal was like the first one coming on a rebound off a corner as Jemma Hanegraaff scored with 10:06 left in the game.
Senior goalie, Thea Panousos, made three stops to improve to 3-3.
On Sept. 15, the Hornets lost at Manchester-Essex by a final of 3-1.

North Reading avoided the shutout 53 seconds into the fourth as Hanegraaff scored.
Manchester-Essex dominated the territorial play as Panousos made a career-high 19 saves.
“She crushed it,” stated Allen, as the score could have easily got out of hand.

Mia Driscoll had both goals and they were both unassisted.
The first one came with 6:30 left in the first half. The other one came with 12:42 remaining in the third.
