NORTH READING — The NRHS girls’ soccer team returned home for a matchup against the Pentucket Sachems in the Division 3 North Quarterfinals under a pouring rain on Thursday night.
Sadly, North Reading’s season came to a heartbreaking end as they suffered a 1-0 loss in overtime.
Despite the loss, junior Julia Thorstad was terrific in net with 12 saves.

It was another grueling game between Pentucket and North Reading as they combined for 19 shots on goal in regulation. The two teams were even in both of their matchups in the regular season, tying 1-1 on Sept. 4 and 1-1 on Oct. 24.
Thorstad and Sachems’ keeper Ashlynne Reade were able to keep the game scoreless in regulation. Unfortunately, four minutes into overtime, Pentucket scored to escape with the win.
The Hornets ended the season with an overall record of 10-4-6.
