LYNNFIELD — The North Reading High girls’ soccer team visited rival Lynnfield on Tuesday night hoping to avenge a 5-1 loss to the Pioneers last month at home. This time, the game ended in a 1-1 draw on a damp, cool evening.

Things looked good early as just 1:50 in, Taylor Osterlind scored assisted by Kiersten Higgins.

The Pioneers (10-2-1) then tied it 19:03 in as Giada Antidormi found the back of the Hornet net.

This game was pretty even throughout as both teams had around the same scoring chances.

Hornet goalie, Hannah Frew played the entire game in net in this one as she made six saves.

With that result, North Reading’s record went to 7-1-3 overall and in the Cape Ann League.

On Oct. 9, the Hornets completed the season sweep over Triton as they shut out the host Vikings, 5-0, up in Byfield. The Hornets won the first match-up, 5-1, back on Sept. 9 at home.

This game was tight at the half as the Hornets pulled away scoring four times in the second stanza.

Higgins scored the first-half goal 20:05 in assisted by Allie Lanciani.  Lanciani made it 2-0 11:52 into the second half with Lilly Arian Aitchison assisting.

Osterlind then scored, unassisted, just 3:28 later.

Higgins made it 4-0 21:05 in assisted by Ariana Demetri and Eva Cannalonga. Higgins then got her hat trick at the 23:06 mark assisted, again, by Demetri and Paige Vant.

Frew got the win in net as she did not have to make a save in the first half. Maya Grossi played in goal in the second half and had one save.

On Oct. 16, the Hornets visit Georgetown at 4:30 p.m. North Reading then hosts Hamilton-Wenham on Oct. 21 and that game will also start at 4:30 p.m.

The Hornets are ranked 9th in the MIAA Division 3 power rankings heading into this week. The top 32 teams at the end of the regular season, automatically qualify for the state tournament.
