NORTH READING — A ceremony honoring North Reading High School teacher and track coach Ryan Spinney will be held on Friday morning at the school from 10:40 a.m. until 11:10 a.m.
Spinney is the recipient of the third annual Charles E. Jones Excellence in Education Award which is given in memory of the beloved Middle School teacher and vice principal/principal whose career in town spanned 38 years. Jones famously led hundreds of students on cross country hiking and camping trips for several weeks each summer to the nation’s most revered historic sites, monuments and national parks, and fall field trips to sites closer to home, creating memories to last a lifetime for his students.
Friday’s ceremony will include welcome and opening remarks by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Patrick Daly and recognition of all the nominees and the 2022 recipient. Remarks by guest speakers Claudia Brown, Leah Jones and NRHS Principal Anthony Loprete will be followed by the presentation of the award by 2021 recipient Allison Kane and Dr. Daly.
Spinney will then be given an opportunity to speak followed by closing remarks from Dr. Daly.
Those who would like to attend the event in person are asked to RSVP to Dr. Daly at pdaly@nrpsk12.org.
