Mirasolo collects program-record 100th point

HAVERHILL — The North Reading/Peabody/Lynnfield girls’ co-op hockey team are off to a great start. The 2019-2020 team includes 10 North Reading players.
The season opener was on Dec. 14th against Masconomet at Haverhill Valley Forum. Although Masco won the game 1-0, (first period goal), PLNR’s chemistry began to kick in by the end of the game and the momentum has continued to grow ever since. Senior goalie Jeny Colin’s had 21 saves.

Still on the road for the next two games, the girls took on Marblehead on Dec. 18 at Salem State University. The game ended in a 5-0 win with a shutout for Collins.
Senior captain Sammie Mirasolo scored a goal making her the program’s first player to reach 100 career points.
Freshman Jenna DiNapoli scored her first career goal to help pace the Tanners. Assisting on these goals were junior Paige Thibedeau and sophomore Lily Piscatelli.
Last Saturday, the Tanners took on the Beverly Panthers at the Bourque Arena in Beverly.
Late in the first, Beverly scored a power play goal, but they were shut down the remainder of the game with Collins making 29 saves and PLNR coming back hard to score the next three goals for a 3-1 victory. Mirasolo scored assisted again by Thibedeau.
The team moved to 3-1 with a 6-0 victory over Oakmont on Sunday. The Tanners play their first home game this Thursday, Dec. 26 against Medford, 1 p.m. at McVann-O’Keefe Rink.
