Project Linus Blanketeers donate to babies in need

NORTH READING — The North Reading Blanketeers were busy this past year crocheting, knitting and sewing blankets, hats and sweater sets to donate on behalf of Project Linus.  In the past eight months they have created 127 beautiful blankets, exceeding their goal of 110! Additionally, they created 51 adorable baby hats and 72 lovely sweaters for donations.

Co-director Betty Ton offered “a heartfelt thank you to our regular and new Blanketeers for an incredible year: Diann Baker, Patty Bemis, Susan Bishop, Joanna Boentgen, Carol Bourque, Louise Broughton, Marcia Cutlip, Barbara Goddeau, Bernice Guy, Margaret Isabelle, Linda Lally, Joanna Lexth, Lois Mara, Angela Mauceri, Karen McCullough, Muriel Mustone, Linda Pearce, Roberta See, June Tay and Claudette Thompson.”

New Blanketeers welcome

She added, “We look forward to picking up our knitting and crocheting needles again on Friday, Sept. 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Senior Center.  We welcome new knitters/crocheters/sewers or please come by for the conversations.”

For those unable to attend or who do not knit, crochet or sew, Project Linus graciously accepts donations of new baby yarns that may be dropped off at the Senior Center. Because the items are often donated to hospitalized babies the yarns must be new and from smoke-free settings.
