NORTH READING — The North Reading Historical and Antiquarian Society is looking for crafters and vendors for the annual Apple Festival to be held on the Putnam House grounds, 27 Bow St., on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain date Sept. 13).
Vendor setup is at 8 a.m. on a grassy lawn. The space is 10 feet by 12 feet for $40.
The North Reading Historical and Antiquarian Society is also looking for donations of original art for the Art Raffle and Silent Art Auction at the festival.
For more information, call Ginny Mills at 978-857-6138 or send an email to: apple@nreadinghistory.org.
The event this year is being “re-imagined” and will follow all the COVID-19 restrictions and recommendations as given by the state and our local health department.
Exactly what they will be is still being discussed, but the Society expects the event will have:
● Vendor/crafter spaces at least six feet apart.
● Social distancing will be followed while walking and interacting with everyone, including crafters/vendors.
● Everyone should wear masks at all times except when eating or for medical reasons.
● All the buildings will be closed except for possibly the Farm Museum since its many doors can be opened to the open air.
● If the Society does sell apple pies and ice cream, they will spread out the tables and chairs and put sheets of plastic between the servers and the public.
● There will be hand sanitizer available, and the seating tables and chairs will be wiped down between use.
● The Society is still looking into whether entertainment and pony rides will be possible and, if so, under what conditions.
If vendors decide at any time that they aren’t comfortable being part of this year’s Apple Festival or if the Society chooses to cancel the event, any money paid will be promptly returned.
