NORTH READING — The North Reading Republican Town Committee (NRRTC) is happy to announce an increase in its annual scholarship amount from $750 to $1,000.
The scholarship is open to all graduating high school seniors from North Reading who will be attending college or a four-year trade school in the fall of 2025. Being a Republican is not a requirement. This is a non-partisan scholarship intended to promote higher education and help to offset its increasing expenses.
The recipient must be accepted by a college/university, or a four-year trade school by April 30, 2025.
Applicants are required to write an essay answering the prompt: “What the American Flag Means to Me.” No financial information is necessary. This is not a need-based scholarship. Scholarship fliers with instructions are available in the Guidance Office of North Reading High School, but are also available to seniors from North Reading who attend high school outside of town or are home schooled.
To request a digital application and instructions, please contact Irene Yull via email at iyull@verizon.net. A completed application and essay must be received no later than midnight on April 30, 2025.
The scholarship recipient will be announced at his/her graduation ceremony. Presentation of the award to the recipient by the NRRTC will take place on Flag Day, June 14th, at a celebratory gathering on the North Reading Common. The $1,000 award will be sent directly to the recipient’s college, or four-year trade school of choice prior to the start of his/her freshman first semester. Please contact Irene Yull at iyull@verizon.net for questions and the application.
